okay, we have totally hijacked this poor thread (sorry tinathetoad).
iceeu2, my wife & I took shag lessons; I needed them, while she really didn't. We both loved it. Embarrassed to say we haven't really put it to use; life kind of intervened. But you are right: all the socializing that goes on with shagging (that's only dancing for you Brits) in NMB is a pretty big deal. |
Dang I was born and bred on the East Side of Detroit and am going to a conference in Myrtle Beach in April.
Hee Hee I have lived in San Francisco for 17 years, however I was hoping Myrtyle Beach would be like Savannah which is awesome. Should I take a drive to Charleston? |
Iceeu2, "shag" as in the "spy who shagged me"?
Myrtle is NOTHING like Savannah or Charleston.
Exactly, Faina....lol
Sorry for the hijack Tina No comparison in Myrtle to Charleston or Savannah...not even close |
I do not care for Savannah. it is just alright. I have a preference to Myrtle Beach. It is about a 2 hour drive from MB to Charleston.
Take shag lessons before you visit. It is a lot of fun.
Are the shag lessons like the movie SHAG???
i said I have a preference to MB, but it was a typo...I meant Charleston. |
tina - Why do you prefer Charleston to Savannah? We did a day trip last time we were in Hilton Head to Savannah and loved it. Should we do Charleston next time around? I believe it's only a bit futher from HH.
Beach Dweller, thanks for the info/ advice. Since we are typically down there 'off-season' a trip down for dinner may be well worthwhile. Although Charleston & Savannah have their similarities I would also choose Charleston over Savannah as evidenced by my trips there. Charleston 8 (or so), Savannah 2.
I have never been to Myrtle Beach but am quite familiar with Panama City Beach, which also appears to be attempting to dust off their image. Can someone who has seen both comment on how they compare?
The difference between Charleston and Savannah is Savannah has charm.
Charleston is more interesting to me. I thought that Savannah was a bit run down. I like the restaurants in Charleston better too, however, I am sure that Savannah has good ones too.
I would agree w/Tina, Savannah could use a little sprucing up. I'm not sure if charm is the proper term, how about character ?
I found Savannah to be full of both charm and character. I think it made a difference that I began reading Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil prior to our visit as it filled my mind with the people and stories that have populated the town - gave it a real personal feel. It reminded me a bit of a smaller scale tamer New Orleans.
I did the same thing snow & I'll agree it certainly gives you a different perspective. I often try to cooridinate my reading material w/where I am planning to be, if possible.
Savannah run down?
