Myrtle Beach Seashells
 

Are there many seashells on the beach at Myrtle Beach? I collect seashells.

Not many fancy shells. My granddaughter found a beautiful whelk last year, but that was a fluke. Every now and again you can come up with a whole sand dollar, BUT...if you look in the right place you can find thousands of sharks teeth. We've had the best luck starting at the Captains Quarters and heading south on the beach. The search becomes addicting. My family said they could always find me on the beach cause I was the one with their @ss up in the air....

No shells. Plenty of &quot;Myrtle&quot; as in crepe myrtle (spelled crape myrtle by some and even grape myrtle by a few misguided souls) -- a glorious flowering shrub that blooms late in the season and gives the Myrtle Beach area and much of the southeast a sort of second spring.

Hi,<BR>You won't find many, but the best times are:<BR><BR>After a high tide (the paper publishes the tide tables).<BR><BR>Early in the morning before people have had a chance to &quot;pick over&quot; what washed up during the night.<BR><BR>Your best bets are (as some of the other posters mentioned) sand dollars and small shark's teeth - mostly sand sharks - that are long and thin. You might also find some pretty pink calico shells.<BR><BR>Darvy, what's your problem, eh?

Tons of shells in Myrtle Beach. You just need to look south of Surfside and north of 30th Avenue North.

Last summer we found lots of broken large shells on the beach near the Pavilion but nothing good to keep. We went down to Myrtle Beach State Park and found loads of whole shells on the beach to sift through but it's hard to find really pretty shells.

there are plenty of shells at the tacky tourist beach shops on every block! Wings etc...<BR><BR>but otherwise you must get up early and beat the crowds and I agree with the others--avoid the major tourist areas...go far north or south...Garden City has always been a favorite.
