Myrtle Beach SC lodging

I plan on visiting Myrtle Beach next summer and started looking for a place to stay (ON THE BEACH) and was overwhelmed with the number of hotels and resorts. A lot of the places are condo's. It will only be myself & husband so I don't need 2 or 3 rooms. Can anyone recommend a hotel or resort on the beach. Cleanliness is a MUST!!! Thanks for any help.

How long and when will your stay be?

Do you want to be in downtown MB where there is a lot of activity immediately nearby, or do you want a quieter area such as North Myrtle Beach or the areas south of MB like Pawleys Island? Other than on the beach, what are you seeking?

There are beautiful and quiet beachfront accomodations available in Litchfield/Pawley's Island--even Garden City and Surfside. Then you don't have to put up with the traffic gridlock of MB.

To answer everyone's questions, I plan on going next year for 5 days in the summer. I was thinking the North End. Is there enough to do there? Do I need to rent a car? What kind of entertainment is there?

Yes, you need a car.

Caravelle Resort
Ocean Creek Resort
Marriott Grande Dunes
Kingston Plantation
Sea Watch Resort

Most Myrtle Beach accommodations are condohotels. The Marriott and the Embassy at Kingston are the only two traditional hotels I can think of.
