Myrtle Beach Lodging in S.C.
 

Can anyone recommend a clean hotel on Myrtle Beach that is in the $80.00 - $100.00 a night for the end of April? I realize the price varies depending when you go. Outside of golfing, is there a lot to do there, and do you need to rent a car while there? I plan on flying there from Mass. Thanks for any information.

You will definitely need a car. MB is very spread out.

I stayed @ Palm Crest Motel twice and enjoyed it. Clean - you can smell the bleach when the maids come to clean. Being early in the season you may find it easy to find an oceanfront suite @ Palm Crest for $75. If you stay a week you get a little discount. The oceanfront suites are good sized and try to get the 2nd or 3rd floor for a nicer view. The poolside "C" type room has a full kitchen just like the oceanfront suites. I highly suggest a car if you want to go golfing but I didn't have a car because I stayed where the water park and arcade were. I know there is public transportation that goes from one end of the stand to the other. When I go to the beach I usually just go for the ocean not what is around the area.

We stayed at Hampton Inn - Broadway at the Beach. It was very convenient to be able to walk to restaurants or just take a stroll on the boardwalk. Not actually on the beach, but it was very nice. Included breakfast with some hot items. Even breakfast to go if you did not have time to sit. PM Cookies were also a treat. Thank you Stephanie for the info on the Palm Crest Motel. I looked it up and it seems they are no longer in business.

that is strange. its a family run motel since 1965. looked it up and it had the phone # 800 487 9233 or write them @: [email protected] and ask for some pics. they used to have a website for a while . . . don't get any kickback from them just enjoyed my time there. if what you say is true, i do remember a Days Inn @ right next to it that was oceanfront also.

I have stayed at the Dayton House Resort (daytonhouse.com) and have been pleased with it. Its quiet, well located and family oriented. Also, liked Forest Dunes (forestdunesaaa.com) Both are on the beach. If the rates are good, you may as well stay beachfront. Take a morning stroll and look for seashells during the sunrise. I always have a car because things are spread out. Ripley's
aquarium is fun and located in the Broadway on the Beach shopping- restaurant complex. A similar complex, Barefoot Landing is located several miles north. There are at least 2 outlet malls in the area as well. A short drive south to Murrells Inlet offers Brookgreen Gardens and several good restaurants (I like Drunken' Jacks).
