Myrtle Beach Christmas week
 

Family of four, two teenage boys. We are planning a trip to Myrtle Beach. We know that the weather is not warm, but we are curious about what activities are available. Obviously, outdooor pools, ocean, water park and amusement parks will be closed. Is everything else up and running? Mini=golf? Ripley's? IMAX theater? Shopping areas? Restaurants? We are looking at the Embassy Suites, Kingston Plantation. It looks like there is an indoor pool. Is there somewhere with a nicer indoor pool area?

We went to MB the day following Christmas a couple of years ago. The restaurants, Ripleys, shows, etc. were all open. The weather was fairly nice and we sat on the beach a few times. Our teenage DD and her friend actually went into the water. There were lots of people around for our kids to have fun with. We stayed at Coral Beach. The rooms were not particularly great but they were clean and the hotel pools and bowling alley were perfect for the kids and adults. We had a great time.

Shaz60 has it right. Virtually everything is open year-round at MB now, except (as you noted) the Pavilion, Family Kingdom, water parks & outdoor pools. Christmas here is pretty cool; in fact, the Rockettes are performing here at the Palace Theatre for the first time in several years.

You might luck out and have weather in the 60s or even 70s. We usually don't get our really cold weather until Jan & Feb.

Also, you have chosen well. For my money, KP is the best resort in MB.

Thanksgiving is one of my favorite times down here. It's the only occasion we dine at buffets (last year we did Thoroughbred's, and it was great).
