Myrtle Beach
Anybody have an opinion on Myrtle Beach with two kids under 2? Is there enough/anything for them to do? I would appreciate any feedback.
Thanks,
|
There is a Ripley's (of the Believe it or Not fame) Aquarium there which the little kids should love, they have a touch tank and lots of tanks where kids should be fascinated by the fish. Are they big enough to do putt-putt golf? At least hold the clubs and understand they are supposed to whack the ball, I mean. Of course the beach - but have they seen an ocean yet? My kids were terrified of the beach and big waves until they were 3 or 4. From little kid perspective those big waves can be very frightening. There are many family-oriented attractions, and your kids may be able to get in free some places.

Jeff,

Keep reading--it will become very obvious that I am not a parent (but I do live in North Myrtle Beach, so I might be of help to you).

What does a child under two like to do? Myrtle Beach is certainly considered a family-friendly destination, but are you looking for some particular activity?

And Joy is right about the aquarium--it's neat.

I'm not a big fan of Myrtle Beach, but if you do go, there's a spot in N. Myrtle called (I think) Beach and Boardwalk. It's sort of a Disney-style shopping and entertainment area.

Actually (and I say this without sarcasm) I find your question a bit amusing. What would interest a 2-year-old? When you learn the answer, be sure to write a book. It will be a best-seller.

Still waiting to hear what kids under 2 require for their vacations.

Beachie, you must be talking about Broadway at the Beach. It has shopping, restaurants, a man-made lake, the aquarium, IMAX, a dragon-theme miniature golf place, and restaurants. However, it's definitely in Myrtle Beach (although on 17 by-pass, not 17 business) rather than North Myrtle. There is also a NASCAR go-kart park across the street, but again, I doubt whether they cater to drivers under 2 years old.

Right you are, Chuck, re Broadway at the Beach. But the question lingers: Just how much does it take to entertain kids under 2?

Hi Jeff - First of all Did you mention what time of the year you are going
to Myrtle Beach. The weather is always iffy in the month of March. This is the month that we always go. April is really starts to get warm.

Every March I go to judge a National Cheerleading Competition the convention center. The competition is always around St Patty's day. Here is where you see tons of family's. However, it is still considered non-peak season, so some of the parks are not opened.

Broadway at the beach is a great place and the fireworks are beautiful. Again, it all depends on the time of the year you go. Love the place and have back with the grandkids many times.
