Myrtle Beach
My husband and I are planning a 5 day golf
vacation to Myrtle Beach. Looking at staying
at Coral Beach which has undergone recent renos. How does a rate of $85 US per person
per night sound including golf??
|
That would be pretty cheap. I remember looking at brochures for golf/hotel packages in that area and the hotel wants a group of four to pay $40 each a night, so your saving about 40 a night.
|
Angela, what time of year are you planning this trip? I think it sounds a little high especially if he is the only one playing oglf.
|
Duh...I meant GOLF
|
We're actually planning on leaving around Easter Weekend. We're both golfers. I did find some cheapers rates at a place called the Sand Dunes and
they have several properties to choose from. Any ideas where to find a good map that shows the course locations??
Don't want to have to drive an hour to play.
|
Stephanie, how do you figure that $170 US a night is cheap for two people?
|
Angela,

Caveat--I am not a golfer. But it sounds like you're being quoted a room rate of around $90 per night (per room, not per person), assuming about $40 per person per day for the golf. I don't think $90 a night is unreasonable at all.

Obviously you can get significantly cheaper rooms (e.g., Comfort Inn, Hampton Inn) if you stay away from the beach. But for an ocean-side resort, $90 per room is not bad over Easter.

I came across a website while I was researching for your answer: www.golfholiday.com/togh.cfm. If you click on *Packages* at the top left of the page, it offers you a chance to browse area courses. It also appears to offer hotel selections too.

I don't know if this will help, but it is probably better than nothing.

Have a great time!

Angela, I just came home yesterday from Myrtle Beach and stayed at the Holiday Inn, right on the ocean. I think you are getting a great price. By the way the weather was great we had three days of over 80 degree weather. Then on Sunday it rained and cooled things down a tad. Have fun and wear that sun screen.

Nice weather, that's great to hear! I'll be happy as long as I don't have to wear a turtle neck the whole time I'm there! Appreciate all the info. I have booked something but will try that website you gave me Chuck. We leave this Sat, so will let you know how we made out!

Angela, I stayed at the Coral Reef a couple of years ago and enjoyed it. It's right in the heart of tacky mainstreet Myrtle Beach but the ocean side is beautiful. Coral Reef has renovated in recent years too. Usually now we stay at the Landmark which is very similar to Coral Reef and close by. The kids like Landmark better because it has a large indoor pool area with an indoor lazy river. Have fun.

Angela, we have booked Coral Beach for a golf vacation for my husband, myself and two sons. I'd love to hear how it was!!
