My New Orleans trip report

Just returned from the Big Easy. Arrived Wed 12/12, returned to NYC/La Guardia Sun 12/16. Flew US Airways. Got past with tweezers, nail clippers, and razor in my carry-on. Also, my friends who are sisters have very similar names switched plane
tickets and were not questioned at all. Flight went very well & pilot communicated with passengers often about weather and possible turbulence.

Wed-arrived, got settled in at Hotel Bourbon Orleans @ 717 Orleans St. Perfect location. Request courtyard room to be away from noisy Bourbon St. Rumored to be haunted and did have some experiences. We asked front desk if hotel really was
haunted and the lady said "Yes, by a ghost named Sarah..." As soon as she said the name 'Sarah', there
was a blackout for a few seconds and power was
restored. Also, a random pillow was placed on my bed
and there was no explanation for it. Got hotel on
priceline.com for $50/night! Strolled around FQ. Ate
dinner at Mr. B's Bistro. Ordered the signature
shrimp dish. Very messy but well worth the trouble.
The sauce is amazing! Do NOT order the Pasta
Jambalaya. Bread pudding sucked. Avg $40/person.

Thurs-Lunch @ Acme Oyster House was very good. Had
seafood gumbo, fried softshell crab and raw oysters.
Great atmosphere and very 'down-home'. Afternoon
cemetery tour of St. Louis #1 w/ Haunted History Tours
w/ 'Midge' as the guide. He was old, long-winded but
tour was very interesting. Went to Voodoo Spiritual
Temple expecting Head Priestess Miriam Chamani to be
present for an African Bones reading but she was not
there. Very disappointed. Went to Voodoo Museum for
a reading by a warlock (older Caucasian man) for $30.
Very interesting experience. Would have preferred
Priestess Miriam but still a good experience. Ate
beignets @ Cafe du Monde-yum! Strolled, napped, then
ate dinner at Galatoire's. Had the Shrimp Remoulade
app.-too horse radishy for my taste. Entree was Filet
Mignon w/ bearnaise sauce-oh so good. Dessert was
Banana Bread Pudding-make sure you leave room for
this-so good! Avg $45/person.
