My interactive Google map of NYC

Hi

My wife and I went to NYC in July a couple of years back and we had a great time there as you can see on my trip report http://gardkarlsen.com/new_york_city_trip_report.htm . I have now made an interactive NYC Google map that shows where the different attractions are located and I have posted this on http://gardkarlsen.com/new_york_city_google_map.htm . Please note that most of the markers on the map leads back to the trip report that I have made. My goal was to make it easier for first time visitors to understand where the different attractions are located.

Get in touch if you have any comments :d

Travelin' gard,

You are a wealth of information. On another board, I found your interactive Google map of Rome. Thank you for your contributions--I don't always comment but trust me I am reading away! :-)

I love your interactive map. I always like the posts about Manhattan. Would love to get there again soon, but with 2 little ones and getting there all the way from Hawaii....

Hi

Thanks for the feedback. Glad to hear that you enjoyed the maps :d They are quite fun to make and it makes it pretty easy to see where the places are located so it is a great tool for planning a visit.

gard,

Very nice. Your maps have raised the bar for trip reports!

We're interested in visiting the Ice Bar in Rome! Seeing exactly where it is on the map should help tremendously in locating it. So nice of you to take the time to do this, gard.

Hi

Well, first of all you have to visit http://www.google.com/apis/maps/ to get a key to be able to use Google maps on your homepage. From there you should visit http://www.slowtrav.com/gmaps/howtouse.asp to read more about how it can be done. Or you can also use the source on my page with some modification of course :-) I'm afraid that it is not straight forward and it is an advantage to have some knowledge when it comes to html coding. But it is not really that difficult but it looks a bit intimidating when you look at the documentation.

Hi

Thanks. I have also updated this map with tooltips (just move the cursor over the markers) and with some info (like the Intrepid museum that is closed at the moment).
