Yes! Traveladdict! I forgot. I love to read the brochures and the hotel book too. I would never hide them away in a drawer!

travel_addict Mar 29th, 2006 01:40 PM

Whew! Thanks Cherie1 - I'm glad I'm not the only one! Sometimes I even take the literature to the pool to read too... (it goes well with my drink!)

FainaAgain Mar 29th, 2006 01:52 PM

Suze, this is the one you're looking for, it's on "other" forum

suze Mar 29th, 2006 01:53 PM

That's the one!

sfamylou Mar 29th, 2006 01:55 PM

Mostly I'm not a germ-a-phobe. But all it takes is a few bad experiences to color the way you look at hotel rooms.

FainaAgain Mar 29th, 2006 01:55 PM

Addict, pee is not germs! It's what people used before penicillin ;)

By the way, the better hotels now have a non-peeing section in the pools, it's like a non-smoking section in a restaurant.

Intrepid1 Mar 29th, 2006 01:56 PM

Gee, I guess those "free" hotels you get to stay in are wonderful what with the "gross" bedspreads and all...really too bad.

joan Mar 29th, 2006 02:22 PM

And admit it, while you're checking out the fire escape and putting towels under the door, you check the "rack rate" on the back of the door and reward yourself (with a poolside drink of course) for being a Fodorite and getting the room at half price!

PS: Suze, at night, drape the sarongs over the lamp shades...mmmm romantic!

How does mdtravel get all those towels?"

Actually, the bed spread or bathrobe can be used as a door muffler as well.

happytrailstoyou Mar 29th, 2006 04:53 PM

suze, I like your style. And I like the suggestion the the sarong be thrown over a lamp. I don't travel with sarongs, so when lamps are too bright, I cover them with a hand towel.

GoTravel Mar 30th, 2006 05:58 AM

LOL! Yes travel addict, urine is sterile.

cherie1 Mar 30th, 2006 06:13 AM

Traveladdict--yep, I take the magazines, etc., to the pool and beach...and to the bathroom too, lol. This may not be music for anyone else's ears given the added germ potential.

Oh, and something I forgot from our routine--buy lots of bottled water and power bars so we won't raid the mini bar.

travel_addict Mar 30th, 2006 06:55 AM

Does anyone remember that Friends episode where someone (can't remember who) had to pee on themselves to prevent an infection? I think it was Monica?? :)

And that post about the woman taking her own sheets to hotels cracked me up! What a lot of work! I think the suggestion to buy a motor home was a great idea for her - it'd sure be a lot easier!

My cousin travels everywhere with those silly toilet seat covers in her purse. Does anyone here do that?? (I just hover over the seat if it looks iffy - and no, I don't leave pee on it for the next person either - that's rude!)

cherie1 Mar 30th, 2006 07:16 AM

Joey peed on Monica because of a jellyfish sting at the beach.

travel_addict Mar 30th, 2006 07:22 AM

That's right Cherie1! It's all coming back to me now... Thanks.

easytraveler Mar 30th, 2006 07:46 AM

If you don't like the pee in the pool, then you shouldn't swim in the ocean; 'cuz all the fish, lobsters, shrimp and other sea critters - not only do they pee in the ocean, they also poo in there as well! :)

Where's that pool party? Wait for me!

If I get to a hotel early, I just dump my luggage and never unpack, then leave. Unpacking is the last thing to do before going to bed - need my stuff to shower, brush teeth, get my PJ's out, etc. My clothes are already hanging in the closet on their own hangars.

I do read the hotel's materials sometimes, but mostly I bring my own reading material - more interesting!

Hi...
Always ask for extra flat sheets to put over the skanky bedspread...unless I am staying at the Wynn..Get ice for my own cocktail station..get rid of all the crap that is on the tables like the pop-up brochures etc..
Usually run into the maid and ask for extra lotion, shampoo and gel and of course towels..Always make sure you clean those glasses that they say are sterilized...turn on the TV, make a cocktail and figure out where I am going for the night out..

GoTravel Mar 30th, 2006 08:39 AM

Actually, I thought it was Chandler that peed on Monica.

travel_addict Mar 30th, 2006 08:41 AM

All this talk about germs is giving me the heebie jeebies. I've never really cared too much about any of this stuff, but now I'm wondering if all these germs posts are going to come creeping into my head next time I travel. Whew! I'll probably have to order an extra drink just to forget about it! :)
