Must have souviner (Las Vegas)

Are there any must have souvenir's? Stuff that isn't the normal Hat/T-shirt/postcard?

Are they hidden away in small shoppes that most people miss or is every gift shop the same?

I got an "area" 51 Magnet at a tacky downtown souvenir shop once. There's also a fun souvenir shop on the North Strip at Sahara Ave across from the Sahara hotel. I forgot the name.

shopping bag full of winnings is always my favorite souvenir from Vegas.

I came home with an unexpected souvenir when I was in my 20's.

Take it from me, stick to the gift shops!

Your own personal flashing light "Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas" sign.

Comes in 3 sizes ... tiny, medium and large.

At a gift shop in the Desert Passage shops.

I LOVE my little one ... have it on the mantle in the livingroom and love to turn out the lights and turn the sign on ... kitchy and yet oh so Fabulous.

You might try the Las Vegas police station on the strip next to Mandalay Bay. I had to file a report there a couple of years ago and found that had CSI Las Vesgas caps and T-shirts that were much better than what was available on-line from the show's web site. They may or may not still have them. (Please forgive me LV Police if I've just send a tidal wave of inquiries your way!)

Why do people buy souvenirs?

jbass Feb 16th, 2007 01:39 PM

Too much discretionary cash? ;;)

rm_mn Feb 16th, 2007 02:27 PM

I buy a souvenir coffee mug at each National Park (if I can find one). Each time I drink coffee it reminds me of what I saw there and what I'd like to go back for.

An STD & a hangover.

(Just kidding)

Not a souvenir per se, but every time I visit Las Vegas I feel compelled to buy as much Ethel M Chocolate as I can afford.

The one I was thinking of is the Bonanza Gift Shop:

Any flamingo merchandise from gift shop at Flamingo hotel - who knew there were so many items bearing likeness of, shaped as, etc a flamingo.

I like my Bellagio cd....reminds me of the fountains since its all the music that is played out there. Got it at the hotel gift shop. The music is a real mix from pop to Broadway -....guess the enjoyment of this one might depend on your age...

In our travels we always bring home a Christmas tree ornament. From LV last Summer, I brought home the "Welcome to Famous Las Vegas" sign in the 4 inch ornament. We love looking over the tree to remember out travels.

trippinkpj Feb 16th, 2007 04:31 PM

Oh, my fun downtown tacky gift shop was at the Plaza hotel.

Go back for more coffee?

I think the best souvenirs are memories, but, if you want objects, how about swizzle sticks and napkins from some of the swankier hotels?

Or, you could collect some of those cards and leaflets people pass out as you walk along the Strip.

tovarich Feb 17th, 2007 03:04 AM

Perhaps you could buy a once used card deck from the casino. When we were staying at the Luxor they sold them there. It's inexpensive but original.PAul
