Must Eats During Taste of Chicago--Tell Me!

We're visiting my dear SIL and her DH who live near downtown (we're bus people) next week for Taste of Chicago. Any tips or ideas for MUST EATs at Taste while we're there? We don't eat fish or sushi...Also considering going to Shedd for a few hours during the heat of the day, and we have tix for Cirque one night. Thanks to all...

Neither Frontera nor Topolobampo are listed on the schedule:

Chances are it will be hot and crowded and it's difficult to eat at times. Take one of those "buffet plates" with you with the drink holder built in...if you don't have one, you can find them at wine shops. If you don't have to carry a purse, don't. Go to the "gourmet area" where they feature upscale restaurants daily.

Well, we went, took the bus to get there, and were completely surrounded with women with multiple children both on the bus and at the Taste. The food was fair at best, and my favorite pastime was watching all the people eating those huge turkey legs from Helen's! We went during the daytime and the crowds were horrible--I can't imagine it during the evening!

I've only gone once in the 25 years we've lived in the Chicago suburbs. And it was the only time in my life I ever remember feeling claustrophic when I was outdoors!

But my kids love it. I think crowds are easier to take when you're young!
