Must do's and Restaurants in St. Augustine

Taking family to St. Augustine for Thanksgiving. Anyone have suggestions of must do's? Also looking for best restaurants -- foodwise I mean -- doesn't have to be fancy. Especially something not far from beach or downtown. Thank you.

Have fun just walking through the downtown historical area. lots of cute shops and great ice cream! We ate at a fun place, it was an irish pub, though the food was average.
I've heard great things about the gypsy cab restaurant too.
Wish I could help more! I work in St. Aug, but live in Jax so I don't go out much down there! Have fun!

I think you will enjoy Gypsy Cab Co & also O'Steen's. It is a seafood restaurant & not a fussy place. My brother drives from Jax regularly to eat there. It's always fresh & good.

The fort and the Spanish Quarter are great. Depending on the ages of your family, they probably would also enjoy the alligator farm. Make SURE to take the trolley rides that take you around town. I kept putting this off because I thought they would be boring--I was very wrong. They give you a great and very interesting overview of the city. A great place to start your trip is with a visit to the visitors center, which is right accross the street from the fort.

Restaurants: The Sea Market on A1A; Creekside Dinery off of US 1; if the weather's nice you can dine outside overlooking the ocean at The Beachcomber or South Beach Cafe.
Good Italian place: Aruanno's.
Lots of good restaurants in St Augustine!

I'm Curious. Why are you going there if youdon't know what you are going to do, or what you want to eat when you get there?

My suggestions ot must do's are Train tour, Alligator Farm, Historic St. George street, walking ghost tour at night downtown, Potter's wax museum, Ripley's believe it or not or Marineland if you have time. Must eat restaurants (in no particulary order) Gypsy cab co., The Conch house, A1a Ale works(located downtown on the bayfront- make there own beer) , also downtown there is a Columbian rest. very good food and sangria!! Hope you have a fun trip!!
