Music Venues in the US

Please tell me the name and hopefully the website of the best live music venues in your city. I am looking for the club that gets most touring bands that are too small to play arenas. And I am also looking for that special small club with smaller acts but tons of local flavor. Thanks.

Don't know if this is what you're looking for, but try 6street.com (Austin). Click on the "live" button for music venues and schedules.

In DC I'd say the club that gets the most touring bands too small to play arenas is the 9:30 club, and the smaller club with local flavor is the black cat (although there are probably others that fit the second description as well, especially depending on what kind of music you like).

Nashville. Third & Lindsey, Mercury Lounge, the legendary Bluebird Cafe and many more. Check out nashvillescene.com for club listings.

In Birmingham WorkPlay downtown is an excellant venue. John Mayer(before he got so famous,) Marc Broussard and of course Taylor Hicks are just a few names that show up. Also the Alabama Theatre plays some smaller acts.

You can get a lot of information on www.pollstar.com for venues, bands, etc. :)

Doh - I was going to suggest the 9:30 Club in DC as well.

Exit/In gets a lot of touring bands in Nashville as well. Third & Lindsley is great for a smaller show. Mercy Lounge (not sure if that's what smoot60 meant by Mercury Lounge) & Cannery Ballroom get a lot of acts.

This is great, keep it up.
(BTW, I'm in DC. And yes, I too heart Black Cat and 930.)
