Music in Denver area?

Now that you've all helped us land in Denver from May 7-14, I'm wondering if anyone can tell me where might be possible, other than Red Rocks, to go to hear live music?

We like many kinds - favorites are indy folk, pop-rock and jazz, but we also enjoy classical, classic rock, and Americana. We're not into country music.

We're staying in downtown Denver but are willing to drive up to an hour or so, to a good place. Also, we're 50, so not looking for a place where everyone's 20 and there are no chairs. Our backs are not what they once were! :-)

Thanks in advance for any help!

Hello I am Henry Davies. I love music. Thanks for sharing regarding music.

I like Americana music and a lot of my favorite artists seem to play the Grizzly Rose in Denver. I'm not sure where it is, exactly though as I don't live there.

Red Rocks is amazing.

I suggest you look online for 5280 or Westword and see if there is anything listed there.

Thanks for the ideas so far, I'll look up Grizzly Rose, 5280 and Westword!

We're thinking about going to hear the Moody Blues at Red Rock the night we fly in, as that's the only performance booked there the whole week we're there, but I'm a little concerned about two things - one, it'll be May 7 and could still be cold in the evening, and I hate being cold; and 2 - my back isn't always up for an evening of sitting on bleacher seats. So we thought we'd play it by ear and hope there are tix if conditions are favorable.

Grizzly Rose is country music, though a fun place to line dance.

Soiled Dove is a nice little place with food and beverage service, on Lowry. The Bluebird and the Fillmore are good, usually rock and indy, on Colfax. Also Macky auditorium at CU-Boulder.

Lots of little venues, more geared to 20-somethings.

I think if you Google, you can find them all.

Red Rock could be nice but most likely would be cold in early May. Go to Denver.metromix.com for a list of all performances in the Denver area.

Check out the Boulder Theater:

Leon Russell will be there on the 14th if that appeals to you.

Went by Red Rocks after dark when there wasn't a concert...it's a phenomenal place. I'd get out my Northface gear and go if I were you. But then my kid plays soccer all winter and I sit in the cold anyway...
