Mushroom Tours
 

I would like to give my husband a birthday present of a mushroom tour - where we can pick mushrooms and maybe have a culinary component as well. Timing needs to be after Dec 2005. Any ideas on time/location/tour providers ?

As far as I know...most mushrooms that grow in the wild emerge in the spring. There is a town in Michigan called Mesick that is capital of the morel.

That is true. The Morel mushrooms are only available certain times of the year, I believe it is Spring.

Richmond, Missouri also calls itself Mushroom Capital of the World - but it menas morels. There are many morel fesitvals and contests.

The NA morel season is from late April to through May depending on the weather and how far north you are.

Usually about the same time the Trilliums are blooming and the wild leeks are up.
