Murray Hill Inn NYC

Has anyone stayed at the Murray Hill Inn at 143 E. 30th Street, (between Lexington and Third Ave.)? If you did, how was it?

I pass this inn and it looks small and homey though I don't know anyone who's ever stayed there. It looks like a former SRO (single room occupancy) that was renovated. This area is mostly a very safe residential neighborhood and close to other neighborhoods like Gramercy Park, midtown, downtown, (Times Square is about 20 blocks away) and is close to bus and subway.

Much would depend on your rate and what you're looking for. You're a stone's throw from Curry Hill which has lots of Indian restaurants and shops.

Thanks Flynn! I saw a winter internet rate of $79 night for a double room and thought that it would be a possibility for an impromptu weekend get-a-way before spring. I really appreciate you taking the time to post a reply - thank you!

Used to live around the corner from the Inn, so have not stayed there, but also think it is charming from the outside. It was rennovated a few years ago, so my guess is the inside is nice as well.

It's a wonderful area of the city, close to lots of good restaurants and walkable to shopping on 34th st and 3rd ave the buses go uptown and Lex Ave they come back down so it is easy to get around from there.

Curry Hill must be the new name for Little India, and I like Curry Hill better. If you like Indian food try Curry in a Hurry, good and cheap or for better go to Anna Purna just down the block. For good Italian Soto Cinque at 29th and 3rd. or a block south Coppola's.

Have a great time.

Great info - thanks! This is sounding better and better, I think I would like this area - it would be fun to stay somewhere not as "tourist-y" and still be able to get around easily.
