Mulligan's Maui Question
Will a 14 y.o. be allowed in for dinner? How about after dinner? Would I want my 14 y.o. in there? Thanks!
|
I've been there.
1. Yes. 2. Maybe not if the 14 y.o. wasn't already there. 3. Not a bad place, really. The 14 year old won't be exposed to anything raucous. Can you call them directly? |
Of course. It's a very nice restaurant, not just a bar. My ten year old accompaned us for "Wailea Nights" there. The waiter was the most "child-friendly" one we encountered anywhere.

Thanks! Can you tell me more about "Wialea Nights?"

Kinda-sorta to the above. Mulligan's is a pub with entertainment, that doubles as the clubhouse for the gold course during the day. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner, and everyone is welcomed. But at night it can be a very happening party spot. Some nights are mellow, others are pretty wild. I've been there on nights when -- well let's just say that what happened at Mulligan's will stay at Mulligan's.
At dinner hour your kid will be fine. But later--like after 9 or 10 pm--he may not be welcomed, depending on the evenings happenings. Generally, during the week, unless there is a special party, it is quieter. During the week entertainment runs from 7 -9, unless there is something special going on. Monday nights is Tom Conway's Gypsy Pacific, an eclectic mix of island-style Gypsy jazz (next Monday, 6/27, at Mulligan's is Tom's new CD release party), Tuesdays are Joe Cano, Tom Conway and Willie Wainright's Acoustico, a latin-flavored guitar and violin treat. Wednesdays are dark. Most Thursday and Friday nights are Wailea Nights. Eric Gilliom and Barry Flanagan do a dinner show that starts at 8. A 3-course prix fixe dinner is included in the price ($50) and dinner seatings begin at 5. Due to Barry's schedule and committment to Hapa and promoting the Maui CD, he is not always there. Special replacement guest is often Willie K. Lots of contemporary Hawaiian music and Auntie Genoa Keawe's granddaughter Maile performs hula. Check with Mulligan's, as some weeks (like last week) they just don't do Wailea nighs at all. Other times they have other things scheuled for Friday nights. Weekends shows start at 9. Sat nights are rock nights with Muray Thorne. Sun is Celtic Tigers night. Celtic Tigers is along time Maui tradition and draws a pretty good pub crowd. Lots of pints consumed. |
Thanks, Here Today! We will be in Maui at the Polo Beach Club from 6/24 -7/3. I would like to try Mulligan's one night for the entertainment. What night would you recommend we go? Should I assume that the party on Monday night would be a bad idea?
Appreciate your input. |
I'll be there next Monday--the "regular" crowd will be there. Lots of pints, it will be packed. You'd have a blast but maybe maybe not the best night for the kid. But you could sit outside. Tuesday nights are great, but I Joe Cano is heading off to do a European tour thingy and I'm not sure when he is leaving. Oops! You are leaving tomorrow! Wailea nights is great. If you can get out without the kid Sunday nights are hot.

Lots of info here http://www.mulligansontheblue.com/Entertainment.html :)

Mulligan's website is not maintained and hasn't been updated in forever. Take that info with a grain of salt. Wailea Nights menu has gone through 7 or 8 changes at least since that was posted, entereinment calendar is general and will not reflect the actual schedule. You have to check with Mulligan's to get an accurate idea of the happenings. I am there more than I should admit, but even I can't keep up with enterainment.
