Mulit-generation trip near Augusta/Atlanta
I'd love suggestions on places near or outside of Augusta to spend time with extended family. I'm trying to organize a two to three night getaway for guests after a wedding weekend in Augusta. Ages will range from 3-70. After the vacation, guests will be heading out to DC Atlanta and Nashville.
What do you think? BTW the dates will be in early June. |

Ritz Carlton Reynolds Plantation on Lake Oconee. Between Atlanta and Augusta on I20. Absolutely wonderful!

Thanks.
I'll look that up right away! |
As you check rates, take a serious look at the Club Level rooms. They are more expensive, but include 5 food/beverage presentations a day. With several people, it will probably save you a nice chunk of change. Stop at the Publix on the way in to buy snacks too.
The Ritz is gorgeous. On the lake . Great pool. Boat rental available. Golf. The food is pricey but FABULOUS. Spa is wonderful. Great place. Rent a chiminea out by the lake and make s'mores one night. Have fun if you go! |
They have renovated the Marriott that is on the Augusta riverfront park. I haven't seen the rooms, but the reception area is nice.
There is a good interactive museum Fort Discovery at the riverfront. Another thought if the Marriott or Ritz don't workout. Stone Mountain is a nice retreat outside of Atlanta. |
