Mt.Pleasant ,SC Rest. ?+Char. ?
Will be in Charleston first weekend in Nov. and I am looking for info on The Point Grill in MP,any help?
Also... I know there was a long thread about eating in Charleston not too long ago but... it mentioned the usual spots but how about some off the beaten path places to have a drink, eat or watch a ballgame, take a break from shopping? I've read about the Blind Tiger, Big Johns Tavern to name 2, there are, I'm sure others.
Also, we are in town to celebrate our 20th wedding anniv., got a very good deal at Harbourview(long story, I'll email to anyone interested) Anyway, Would enjoy an upscale but comfortable dinner(please no jacket+tie) I'm more of a sweater+Khaki person. We've been to Charleston before but many, many years ago so many of the places I've read about did not exist.Advice is appreciated, Thanks .

There are no jacket and tie restaurants in Charleston. They would go out of business because 5 months out of the year it is too hot in Charleston for a jacket and tie.
Khakis will gain you entrance to the very best places in Charleston.
We aren't hiding any best kept secrets about dining.
I don't know a thing about the Point Grill. Is it on Shem Creek?
I still think downtown is the place to be if you are going to Charleston. Tommy Condons is a great place.

Forgot to add that there is another causal pub as you are exiting MP and heading towards Sullivans, IOP's. You will see it as you hit a stop sign head that way. I can not remember the name (thinking it is Irish or something). Goodness, could I be anymore vague. Sorry, but the name has clearly evaded my brain.

I am not familiar with the Point Grill...
Ate at Tommy Condon's a few years ago and not impressed at all. A good site for restaurant recommendations is www.chowhound.com

I actually work for a band here and created a "Charleston Links" on the band's site for folks visiting. Here's the link http://www.bluedogs.com/content.asp?...&parentID=2176. I've listed a pretty diverse list of dining and nightlife things as well as sites to see. One of my favorite things to do is visit the rooftop bar at the Market Pavillion Hotel...a great place to have cocktails before dinner - great view!
I think the bar on Sullivan Island that's referred to here is Sullivan's. There's also a great place called Poe's out on Sullivan's Island.
I agree with LeahinSC re: Tommy Condon's (though we do mention it in the link above as it is usually a place most tourist like to visit). It's highly overrated...service leaves much to be desired as does the food.
