Mt. Rushmore/keystone areas Storms

We planned a trip to see Mt. Rushmore tomorrow and it doesn't look good for weather there. It has been raining and thunderstorms are in the forecast for this weekend. Has anyone been there to know if these storms pass quickly or linger?

South Dakota storms are as unpredictable as any I have ever been in. Several years ago I went with my 18 year old son to Mt. Rushmore, in RC it was beautiful, but up on the mountain I have this incredible pic of him completely surrounded in fog! Even if it rains, GO, you should be able to see the faces and probably some wildlife. I sat through the lighting ceremony in a lightning storm...that was pretty incredible. Don't let the weather stop you, just be sensible in what you wear! Have fun

Well we did not go today! But, we may go tomorrow. Has anyone been in the area today to advise us? Has anyone stayed at the Econo Lodge Mt. Rushmore?

Wish I could get a reply right now as to what the Keystone, SD area is like right now and if it really looks like there will be a lot of rain in the next two days. Thanks.
