Helicopter Tours:
"Helicopter and other flight operators are no longer permitted to fly close to Mt. Rushmore. Viewing from aircraft will be from some distance away. The exception is Black Hills Balloons, a hot-air balloon operator who may on occasion drift near Mt. Rushmore. The viewing area at the top of Iron Mountain offers a much better view of Mt. Rushmore than you will get from any aircraft and it is much, much -- very much -- cheaper. To say nothing about being more environmentally and esthetically pleasing."

Another newbie here. I have visited this forum as a guest several times and thinking that this forum will help me. I am glad that I have decided to join your community and I know that you guys will be a lot of help to me as I learn more about helicopter tours. oahu helicopter tours

I was just at Mt. Rushmore more and camped at a national forest campground about 2 miles from the monument. Let me tell you--they are indeed giving helicopter tours of Mt Rushmore--from dawn til dusk. I don't know how close to the monument they actually fly but judging by the fact they were flying over our campground the whole time, it is very close. It was very annoying.

I saw two helicopter operations in the Mt Rushmore area. As Connie says, they were very annoying to those on the ground hiking, camping, etc. I seem to remember that one was flying near Crazy Horse and the other near Mt Rushmore.
