Moving to San Diego. Need info about area.
 

I was thinking of relocating to San Diego to <BR>pursue a golf career. I need to go to a nice place where i can play year round. I just need to know a few thing. Are there plenty of golf courses in the area? What is the weather year round? Are there plenty of jobs available out there? and is rent expensive? any advice would help.

Average house is about $375,000. <BR><BR>don't know much about golf.

Apartments are hard to find and atrociously expensive. Visit www.uniontrib.com and look them up.<BR>Golf course fees are also astrononical. <BR>You can look up the limited job opportunities at www.uniontrib.com, too. A lot of companies pay less here because they assume people will take less because of the climate.<BR>You have to live close to where you are going to play golf, because the traffic is so terrible you could spend more time driving on the roads then "driving" on the course. <BR>Fore!!!

Median cost of buying a house is $340,000. Rents are expensive, gas is more expensive, almost everything is more expensive here. You will find info about all our area golf courses at www.sdgolf.com. The weather is pretty good all year, but it does rain occasionally (just not enough!) and the first six months of the year can be chilly. You probably could wear shorts on Christmas Day and go to the beach.

DO I detect a Troll?<BR><BR>If you are a serious golfer, then you know that there are a zillion golf courses in the San Diego area. Torrey Pines is a tough public course which hosts the san diego open each year. Various tournaments have been held over the years at La Costa.<BR><BR>The weather is pretty much the same year round on the coast - 60-70. Sunshine varies. Inland it gets colder in the winter and hotter in the summer but never truly uncomfortable.

What serious golfer would not know that San Diego is filled with golf courses?

Worse yet what planet does one come from to ask about weather in San Diego? Who hasn't heard it is a wonderful climate. (Tom I guess that's who.)

Tom, you don't need to get so defensive. <BR><BR>There are tons of golf courses in San Diego.<BR><BR>I doubt you will want to wear shorts at Christmas. Only tourists wear shorts in winter. San Diego is considered to have the best weather in the country.<BR><BR>Houses and apartments are expensive. Prices rise considerably the closer you get to the ocean. The further you move inland the less expensive they get.<BR><BR>Like many other places in this current economy, jobs aren't so plentiful in the higher paying fields.<BR><BR>If you are looking for someplace less expensive with plenty of golf courses, you might want to consider Phoenix. You can get a house for much less.

Tom You are a complete idiot if you have not done a little research on your own about the weather and how many golf courses are out here. Do us all a favor and stay in Maine & marry your sister.

Tom, perhaps you are very young, and have not done as much homework as you should. First of all pursuing a career in golf I know nothing about, but it sounds as though it is like going to Hollywood to become a star. San Diego, is an expensive area, and unless you are very rich, or have relatives to stay with you should careful. Jobs are not plentiful. Unskilled labor does not pay well. Housing costs are high. It is a highly desirable area, because of the climate. Good luck, and don't take some people's comments so hard. Good luck.
