Moving to NJ/PA

Hi there. My husband and I are moving to the NJ/PA area w/my husband's job (HQ in Princeton). We are trying to figure out what areas we should focus on. This past weekend we looked at Bucks County (Yardley & Washington Crossing). We liked Washington Crossing, but it seems somewhat remote. We have heard stories about the high taxes & insurance in NJ, so we are not sure we should look there. Any advice on Bucks County and the Princeton, NJ area much appreciated. We have a young son and are looking for nice family-friendly areas.

I don't know what your idea of remote is but you would be very close to New Hope and by virtue of the highway system, you're actually close to Philadelphia. Both have lots of night life, entertainment, restaurants, etc.

Newtown, PA? At least it's a town. Doylestown, PA is a really nice town but quite a commute out to Princeton.

East & West Windsor are near Princeton. They are nice family-oriented 'burbs.

I would look at Newtown/Yardley area you can even go into Langhorne. The commute is not bad. My husband does it daily. I know we looked around last Dec. at new homes in the Princeton area and were shocked at the prices and no back yards at all. Depends if you want older home, what your financial situation is as well. Princeton itself is very nice as well. I agree with buongirmo the cities are all very close. It can have a country feel but remote? Not really. Malls are a short ride away. I would check Yardley again/Lower makefields township, Newtown. Happy hunting.

Both Washington Crossing or Newtown would be my picks. Incredible coummunties and some of the most scenic areas in the US!

Medford NJ is a wonderful small town in South Jersey. It has a beautiful, old main street filled with shops and quaint restaurants. The schools are good and there are plenty of beautiful homes and nice neighborhoods. The taxes are higher than some other South Jersey towns but compared to the Bucks County and Princeton areas, I would say they would be comparable.
