Moving to Montana
Okay, so after my boyfriend and I get married and finish college we want to move to MT. I've only done a little bit of research, but we have deduced that we like Western MT. better than that of Eastern MT. We both hate the heat, he can stand the 80s and 90s but I just want 60s to 70s. I know I won't be able to get this, however I can compromise if I get a small town, no interstate bringing tourists, and amazing views. We will be wanting to start a ranch/farm whatever you wish to call it. We will also need to have access to bigger cities for jobs. He wants to be a construction manager and I an accountant. Any suggestions or ideas? Oh! And we love he cold!

Try Wyoming!

John,
Tired of the growth? Sadly, I have finally ruled out K due to lack of sun. I like the cold and the snow, but I need the sun in winter! |
I'm FROM Wyoming...I suggest you go to Alaska and live there. Your attitudes will fit right in.

Last time I was in Missoula, several years back, it was over 100 for four or five days. The nights were fine, and the days were that famous dry heat that you aren't supposed to feel. It's a lot cooler at elevation. There was also smoke in the air from forest fires. In fact we stayed at a motel with a lot of fire fighters on R&R between shifts.
That said, it is a great town with a big music scene, but not a lot of work. Good luck. |
Dayle, are you still looking around for other places in MT?
|
Hi kureiff,
Somewhat. Went house hunting in Bozeman over the 4th. I was shocked to see entire neighborhoods that had been thrown Up the two years since my last visit. Explosive growth and the potential for unlimited sprawl? No thanks. Havent looked seriously anywhere else yet. Are you going to recommend Great Falls? :-) |
Well, I love Great Falls. :) My sister, who lives in Bozeman, doesn't get it, though. The value of their house has gone up by a 1/3 in the last year and a half.
I think we're underrated: great river trails, close to great skiing, close to Glacier, close to the Bob, not expensive or crowded, fantastic symphony, and we have a group of people committed to revitalizing downtown and the riverfront. Also, it's always sunny. (And not too windy depending on where you live.) |
