Moving to Milford - help!

A good opportunity has my hubby and I considering moving to Milford this fall (we currently live in Minneapolis. I would appreciate any insights about Milford from those of you who live in the area or are knowledgeable about the area...culture, shops, restaurants, things to do, your opinion of the area and surrounding towns, etc. THANKS!

I live near Milford, MI and I'm fairly certain there's a Milford, CT. Your mention of Minneapolis makes me think you might mean Milford, MN, but I don't know if such a town exists.

Although you can specify a state as a search topic when you post, all posts get dumped into one big "US" pool, with no indication of what states might have been chosen originally. Fodor's does not even come remotely close to making this clear to people though.

So, which state do you mean?

Don't move to Milford, Delaware if you can help it. You'll tend to start looking like a plucked chicken if you do, sort of like the late Frank Perdue.

Wouldn't you prefer to do your own legwork? No one knows what you want like you do. Have you ever been to Milford, CT?

I would certainly visit first and check out the area.

I live in CT, about 15 minutes from Milford and have found it is becoming quite popular, even for NYC commuters. Plenty of shopping, from malls and chains to little stores and lots of restaurants, chains and smaller. Also, the area near the town green has a few very popular bars that are fun and many spots near the water have been developed. Not sure about lots of culture, but it's only a few minutes from New Haven which has theaters, symphony, shops, restaurants, and many other possibilities.
