Moving to Hawaii-HELP!

I am moving to Honolulu for 6 mos. What do I do about a car? Is there good public transportation? Is it do-able without a car?

Depends on where you will be living and where you need to go. You might be alright if all of your activities are in the Diamond Head to Honolulu to Pearl City corridor. My guess is that you will want a car to get out and enjoy the island.

We found a book titled "So You Want to Live in Hawaii" by Polancy & Lewis while on Kauai that covered a lot of stuff like this for Hawaiian newbies. I believe Amazon offers it too.

But, I couldn't imagine being on Oahu w/o a car. Heck. I can't imagine being anywhere without a car. Except New Orleans where nobody should be behind a wheel of a car after a night in the Qtr!

You will definitely need a car. The public transportation is awful - the busses will take you twice as long as with a car.
