DART site: http://www.dart.org

So you can see the rail & Park & Ride, useful alternatives to driving downtown.

Are you flying in to DFW or Dallas Love?
Where are you starting from?
Traffic on Friday afternoon can be horrible.
I think you should go check out 'new' Allen. This is the Allen city limits West of 75 (Central). This would put you close to 75 so you could take it downtown, or take it to Plano and park and ride the Dart. Allen is a city that has been around for quite some time, but it has some very new parts. If you Exit McDermott off of 75, and head west on McDermott, I think you might like some areas around there.

Just a suggestion.

I was in Dallas MOnday and I got to the A/P about 8pm.A little lite left. You dont say where you will be driving from in that 4 hour period. But from the Plano/Frisco/Allen area, you can get to the A/P easily on HWY 121 and the 121Bypass.Actually that would take you right thru Coppell which is a growing community nice homes and good schools so I'm told. And then the road turns south and it is actually the north entrance to DFW airport.I go that way every time I visit Dallas and its very easy and quick.

I will be coming from downtown. I may have more time, just not sure.
Beachboi, what is the A/P?

Traffic may be hectic, but I'm in Los Angeles so I'm sure it won't be worse than here! I guess it'd just be nice to scoot around a little and get a feel for how things look.
|
Oh, I forgot - I'm flying in and out of DFW.

A/P = DFW Airport
sorry bout that |
Dallas is a great city, the only people I have found who prefer Houston over Dallas are people from Houston (my mother is an exception- she's from Houston and was thrilled to leave). Houston may be prettier, with lots of pine trees. All of the places to live that other posters have mentioned are good choices. Allen is really nice, I have some clients who have moved there, and they love it. Lakewood/M-Streets is another great choice, especially if you love older homes with unique architecture and lots of trees. One thing to keep in mind about our property taxes- they are higher, but we don't have a state income tax, so they have to get you somewhere! Hope this helps!
