Moving to Carlsbad, CA
 

I'm moving to Carlsbad, this October, with my wife and new born daughter.I'm going to school for a year and a half. I've been looking at houses for rent on the internet, but have not found one yet.
Just hoping for any helpful advice, on any aspect of housing, area, etc. I'm trying to spend around $2500 mo. or less. Thanks in Advance.

My neice and her family live in Carlsbad and have lived there for a few years now. They really love it.
Because of housing costs, they've had to rent an apartment. Still, they really like the area.

I'm glad you are going to school. I hope spelling is being offered. The word is newborn--not new born.

Indy, try checking out the San Diego Union Tribune (www.signonsandiego.com) classifieds. Sunday is the best day. You should be able to find something to fit your budget. Where are you going to school?

I also thought hart's comments were not needed. We all make typing errors and should not have to be evaluated all the time. Some people just think they have to correct people all the time. Dustin, I hope you find something you like in the Carlsbad Area. Friends of ours live in Carlsbad and love it - but it is expensive. Good luck to you and your family.

Carlsbad (along with Chula Vista) are the two fastest-growing bedroom communities in SD County. What USED to be a sleepy North County beach town is now chock-full of new housing developments east of I-5.

It is a very family-oriented, very safe, pretty "boring". But great for families.

You can also look into the North County Times for rentals, in addition to the San Diego Union Tribune (www.nctimes.com).

My family has lived in the S.F. Bay Area, the L.A. area, and currently in Carlsbad... and we love it! The beach was very nice today.

there is also a free newspaper called the reader that is put out every week in san diego. try doing a search for that.
