Be very careful about the schools in Fairfax and Montgomery. there are wide variations in the quality of the schools in those jurisdictions. In your situation, Fairfax might be the best choice because of the Thomas Jefferson High School for Science. Of course, the competition to get into that school is fierce.
there are some schools in Fairfax that are really challenged-many of these are in the closer-in suburbs.
I agree with one of the other posters that Yorktown in Arlington has a very good reputation. So does
George Mason in Falls Church.
