I forgot to mention this one before, but I REALLY want to go to Maine to see the towns that inspired Stephen King's fictional settings.
Derry, for example, is just a thinly-disguised Bangor. Castle Rock stands in for Bridgton. I've love to see them, especially Bangor.

dbenya - you are right about the village in Ryan's Daughter being created for the movie. It was built on my grandfather's farm. I remember being allowed to see the movie as a kid here in Boston so that I could see where my dad grew up.
Another movie filmed in the area was Far and Away with Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman. Terrible movie but I own a copy because my uncle, sister-in-law and a cousin are all extras in it. My uncle, who has passed away since, actually had a close up. Beautiful scenery.

There's Something About Mary and Bad Boys made me want to visit Miami (which I finally did and picked up on some of the locations where it was filmed), My Father, My Hero makes me want to visit the Bahamas and countless films make me want to visit LA.
Also a big fan of CSI and CSI Miami, so I have Vegas on my list!

Mrs Kal and I used to like to go around to the various beaches in Hawaii trying to recreate Burt Lancaster's/Deborah Kerr's surf kiss from "From Here To Eternity".
We stopped when we looked up and there was yellow warning tape strung up about 20yds away, and the local Ranger was telling tourists it's a Federal Crime to interfer with the sealife.
HAPPY FRIDAY!!!
52 mo' days!!!!

does anyone know where the final scene of "Body Heat" was shot?? Kathleen Turner has left William Hurt languishing in a jail cell and the beach where she's sitting with her new boyfriend looks a lot like Tunnels on Kauai......

a pretty good resource for finding out info on a film (including filming locations) is imdb.com. However, you'd be surprised how many movie scenes were not filmed where you think. (I had this experience with Minority Report and True Lies, both of which had limited shooting in DC!)
