Movie: Open Range

I just saw the new Kevin Costner movie Open Range, it shows off the magnificent scenery around Calgary. It is a really good old-fashioned western that makes you want to saddle up and head for the hills.

I agree. An outstanding film with some great cinematography.

Woohoo, glad to hear it! Can't WAIT to see it - and i LOVE Kevin Costner!

The western has always been my favorite tv/movie genre; think Bonanza, Big Valley, Gunsmoke....anyone else remember those days?

Looking forward to seeing this as well, still waiting to see Seabiscuit, too. I wanna reflect on the beautiful country we visited on our trip to Montana and South Dakota. When you can see for miles and miles you realize how small and insignifigant we all are. I get such a sense of 'shut-my-mouth' awe. Then wonder how it must have felt to see it for the first time knowing you were going to travel over it in the wagon!

Yes, this movie brings back to mind what the people settling our country went through amid stunning landscapes.

I am always hopping off to Europe and forgetting how beautiful our country is. Now I just want to load up the car and head for Montana! (or thereabouts, padnah).

We saw it on Friday, and liked it very much. Robert Duvall was superb and so were Kevin Costner and Annette Benning. It was so very nice to see a very lovely "woman of a certain age", play a marvelous part, and it was about time too! Great scenery too. I am now on my getting to KNOW America better kick. Will still do Europe, but with major trips to US (and Canada too) included big time! Judy
