Don't know about Viva Las Vegas, but Austin Powers was shot at the Stardust.

viva las vegas was shot at the tropicana and the flamingo, although elvis himself stayed at the Sahara during the three weeks of the location shooting. fyi other movies shot at hotels in las vegas include vegas vacation... shot at the Mirage...rainman and the electric horseman...shot at caesars palace...oceans eleven...shot at the old Sands Hotel. currently, jackie chan is shooting a movie at the old desert inn, before it is imploded in october, which will be part of the movie.

The remake of Ocean's Eleven with George Clooney and Julia Roberts was filming in Las Vegas in March of this year. They reportedly filmed at the Bellagio, Bally's, New York, New York, Barbary Coast.

The movie, Swingers, made a couple of years ago about a young guy taking a friend to Las Vegas to get over a broken heart was filmed at the Stardust. Also, the documentary movie, Elvis, That's the Way it is, was filmed at the Las Vegas Hilton around 1970. That movie, if I'm not mistaken, includes Cary Grant's last appearance on screen as he was briefly interviewed before entering the showroom for an Elvis Presley show which was filmed for the movie.

I saw a movie called, "Lucky Town." About a young girl looking for her Fatherwhom she can't remember but has heard is a professional gambler. She finds her Father staying at the Bourbon Street Hotel in Las Vegas. Movie wasn't all that great, but the hotel looks like a place that has some Vegas ambience.

The movie, Casino, is about the Stardust Hotel and Casino, although I don't know if it was filmed there.

I believe Casino was filmed at the Riviera. The Julia Roberts-Brad Pitt movie The Mexican filmed at The Plaza downtown, and Pay It Forward featured The Golden Gate downtown.
Casino was filmed at the Landmark...it was owned by Howard Hughes at one time....it was imploded after the film...it was locate in the area down by the Hilton(not Flamingo) and Stratosphere...

Most of the interior location scenes of Casino were filmed at the Riviera. Check www.filmscouts.com for lots of interesting film location info. Perhaps supplemental footage was shot at the Landmark and other casinos.

The implosion of the Landmark was used in the movie "Mars Attacks" .

I forget the name of the movie now, but it starred Nicholas Cage & James Caan. It was filmed in Vegas at Ballys & it contained a scene with the flying Elvis's jumping out of a plane & landing out front of Bally's. I happened to be there the night they were filming some of that scene.

The new Jackie Chan Movie, Rush Hour 2, is out now. The last part of the movie was shot at the Desert Inn, which they call The Red Dragon in the movie. They were going to have the implosion as part of the film, but the implosion datewas postponed so they went ahead and finished the movie without that. By the way, the Mayor of Las Vegas says there won't be a Rush Hour 3 filmed in Las Vegas because his cameo was left on the cutting room floor.
