Movie filming in Chicago area

I'm wondering if there is a website which tells you what locations movies are filming at, on specific days in CHicago.
Is there also a way to see if any movies need extras?

THanks

I watched the filming of the parade scene in Ferris Bueller's Day Off. What does that tell you? I'm old.

I know they are filming the new Batman movie right now in Chicago.

I saw Mel Gibson shooting a scene from Payback in the loop near the Board of Trade several years ago.

I got off a commuter train in Union Station one morning years ago to find them filming I Love Trouble with Nick Nolte and Julia Roberts (yeah - it wasn't really a memorable movie!). When I went outside, a local radio station asked if they could interview me on air about what I had seen. My 15 seconds of fame!

I was out of work early on a chore, just off of I-80 one day, not 15 blocks from my house, when I saw them taping ER- the sequence when the blonde nurse/single mom chases her ex-husband to get her diabetic son back. The ex-con ex-husband ended up getting murdered.

celfan, me too! Old.
I watched some parts of doing the Mall chase for the Blues Brothers.

Joliet Jake would be sad, as they just totally demolished and carted away Dixie Square finally and forever down to all concrete slabs last year. And they also closed the prison used in the first scenes when Jake was picked up.

There's an entirely new prison at a different location now.

I also lived down the street from where
Tom Hanks and Jude Law filmed some of Road to Perdition-Pardition (Geneva, IL). I watched Tom Hanks run out of a hotel into a getaway car about 15 times. Each shot looked ok to me.They put new handpainted signs on a dozen downtown stores although only a couple made it into the movie. When you see all the people running around, traffic control, sets and props, you see why movies are expensive.

Did you see Jude at all, Celfan?

Drooooool....

JJ5 - Did they finally demolish the mall? I remember joyriding through the crumbling parking lot as a teenager and getting chased off by the Harvey police.

They are indeed filming Batman here right now (I think they might have just finished up) because I saw the crew out and about every day for the past couple of weeks (they are filming by where I work). I never did see any of the actors, but I saw plenty of crew.

"Did you see Jude at all, Celfan?

Drooooool...."

Yes I did, I was close enough to see he had a tatoo on his arm that said Sexy Sadie. Frankly, I didn't think he was that handsome. He was more handsome than me, but who isn't? Women and men seem to differ on who's good looking and who isn't. Justin Timberlake who keeps winning polls? I think I could find
someone better looking at the local 7-11. My wifes favorite, Jimmie Smitts?
I actually think I'm more handsome but you'd probably diagree too, strongly.

And don't even get my wife started on my favorite,Food Network chef Giada DeLaurentis. Or "bubble head" as my wife calls her. Drooool.

Yes, Vittrad, it's all gone FINALLY. It was probably almost 2 years ago now, that some government entity finally took the clean up into its own pocket. But it took weeks to dumpster and drag all the parts away. It was in the Southtown/Herald- pictures, at the time.

celfan, so true. I don't think dishy is what these young ones do AT ALL.

And my Dad is 88 and Angie Dickenson is still his girl. LOL!

Giada is a doll, but a little too skinny.

I love tall, big guys- and nothing with a 34 inch waist either. LOL! To each his own. All these actors are way too puney to fit my ideal. Brian Urlacher comes close.

SusanM Jun 28th, 2007 10:25 AM

A lot of people criticize Giada, but I think she's cute.

There are two actors I'd see in any movie they make: Jude and Ewan McGregor. I guess I like them scrawny!

The iPhone/iPad app "Movies Filmed in Chicago" is great for finding exact filming locations for the best Chicago movies. Has Ferris, Blues Brothers, Wanted, Public Enemies, Groundhog Day..... Fun way to learn about really cool Chicago places to visit.
