I'm betting that Tina's hubby came home, told the family to start packing for the move to Texas & she killed him. She has no access to the internet in jail.

I have just posted on the new heading - again thanks to you all for taking the time to air your views and give me your heart-felt advice. Sorry for not getting back sooner.

I hope that this isn't too late. I am a fifteen year old who has spent the last ten years of my life in Houston, and thought that you might like to know about Houston from a different perspective, considering you have two children.

To make it short, don't do it. Stay in the UK. Houston has to be one of the ugliest and most boring cities in the entire world. I honestly cannot wait until I go to college so I can leave this city and never return. It is not a city you'd want to live in, especially coming from such a wonderful area.

You'll probably regret moving to Houston, if you do.

What a bunch of crap, bottom line, Houston is a blue collar town(even the wealthy have an edge)!! It's not a tourist destination!!They have their own thing going on down there and don't seem to care what any one else thinks. The question this panicked Brit should have asked herself is would she move from London to Manchester(same difference sans the distance and the rain/cold vs. rain/heat).I've been to all of the cities in question and know what I'm talking about. The people there work and live hard. GEEZ, have some perspective!!!!!

I moved from Dallas to London and I can tell you you will hate hate hate Houston!!!

London is beautiful and whatever everyone says about the miserable weather, I love it here.

Houston is - well you can see from the other postings - plain yukky- its probably the worst city to live in in Texas. Worse than Dallas!

Its humid, the crime rate is probably higher if not the same as the bad neighbouhoods in London and its just a vast town! Its not even a city culture like NY of SF

I remember 10 years ago, when I just graduated, everyone in my class ticked Dallas, Austin and other cities etc but always always put a comment in the form - NO HOUSTON.

I am really sorry for those that are living there, but I just wish you find support in your decision.

I can only give you suggestion from a travel point of view. For myself, I am taking a sabbatical year to be with my family in London - so that means JOBLESS!! But i am really having a relaxing time and enjoy being with my family more. So its up to you. Transition is always easier than we imagine.

And there are always neighbouring cities you can go to like San Antonio, Austin and even get cheap Netsavver fares to other bigger cities like SF, NYC, Chicago etc...so its not THAT bad.

Oh come one now! Education is NOT bad in Texas....I have lived in the midwest and education there is alot worse..education takes a back seat to sports. My 2nd grader was learning multiplication and division..while in the midwest that isn't learned until 4th grade. People are rude in the midwest..not friendly..don't smile. Texas will welcome you with open arms. I say make the move. It will make you a better person.
