Just to say thank you again. Just got off the phone with dh - his sister was SO happy to see him. She could not stop crying. He thanked me so much for quietly urging him to go to her. He said the hotel is pretty far. He took a cab back from the hospital late tonight - Said the hotel is okay. Small room (normal for NYC) - a hotel that the Marriott must have purchased from someone/took over. But all is well - other then how cold he is :).

Thanks again!!

Dh's sister continues to do okay. There is no way she is getting out of the hospital before Monday or Tuesday at best at this rate. She has had some pretty rough days but is so happy dh is there. He has spent the entire time at the hospital with her. I spoke with him this morning and he was pretty wiped out. :(

I hope your SIL gets home soon Dawn.

Thanks Andrew! Dh is in DFW in route home - she is still in the hospital. There have been a few complications but over all she is doing well. Ready to go home but not going to happen very soon I am afraid.

Hope your SIL is home by now and all is ok. Stick with Doug Stallings - guy knows Manhattan. Hope all is well

MomDDTravel Mar 10th, 2009 09:22 PM

Doug is great right? :)

Unfortunately my SIL is still in the hospital. :( She is not recovering very well. I spoke to her today and she sounded very weak and very blue. Family was there with her thankfully.

Hi Dawn - I'm sorry she's not doing so well. Being in the hospital takes on a life of its own. She needs friends and family around her to keep her encouraged; it's so easy to get depressed in there when you're not responding well. I hope she turns a corner soon. It is so true that there's no place like home - just wishing her good health and a quick escape route!

Dawn,
Sorry to hear that your SIL isn't recovering well

MomDDTravel Mar 11th, 2009 07:11 PM

Andrew I was thinking about you today and wondering where you had been. Thank you for the well wishes.

CPG - I know I talked to her again tonight and she sounds depressed - very weak. Fortunately dh has a huge family and someone has been there every day. Her dh works though and is in NJ... :( She just sounds weak and very blue.

Good news is she said she kept some solid (soft)food down so far tonight - so she is moving in the right direction at least. I hope it sticks. She has not eaten anything since a week ago Sunday. It will be two weeks this Sunday. :( No wonder she is sounding weak. :(

MomDDTravel Mar 12th, 2009 07:55 PM

Happy news! SIL is home in NJ sleeping in her own bed. :) She spent a long 10 days or so in the hospital but is so happy to be home. :) Thank you again for your concern and follow up.

Centralparkgirl Mar 13th, 2009 07:17 PM

That is wonderful news, Dawn! Now let the recovery begin!!!

andrew8 Mar 13th, 2009 07:21 PM

Glad your SIL is home Dawn

MomDDTravel Mar 14th, 2009 07:40 AM

Thanks so much! Spoke to her yesterday and she still sounds very weak and tired to me - she lost 20 pounds in 10 days (not kidding)... she said it will come back...

mclaurie Mar 14th, 2009 07:52 AM

Glad to hear she's home. Sounds like she needs a care package of some yummy food.

Centralparkgirl Mar 14th, 2009 08:39 AM

Dawn, my dh lost 25 lbs (20 in two weeks in Nov). He is eating everything in sight now and has gained back quite a bit. Your SIL will too. It takes a little time, but the body is amazing at healing itself and adjusting. I didn't think it would ever happen, but it has. Your SIL needs support right now until she gets back her strength and appetite.

MomDDTravel Mar 15th, 2009 08:16 AM

Mclaurie - I think that is a wonderful idea! CPG Glad that dh is continuing to regain strength. I hope my SIL can stay at home long enough to fully recover. She owns a struggling Hallmark store and is very stressed out.
