Moth Season in Vegas?
My sister just returned from Vegas and had quite an experience with moths in the hotel. They stayed in Bally's and almost every room they looked at was infested with moths. They were told it is "moth season" and that all the hotels had them. They did see some in the other hotels on the strip as well.
We had never heard of this-Has anyone else experienced this??

At the end of June one year we were in Big Basin National Park which is a ways north of Las Vegas. We were camping in the park and noticed a lot of little moths while we were at the campsite that evening but didn't think anything of it.
The next morning we woke up to dozens and dozens of moths collected on the outside screens of the motorhome. Again we didn't think to much of this.
We left that morning for our next destination and we would find one or two moths flying around the RV and we would scoot them out the window and didn't think much of this.
Later that day we would find 10 or 12 moths at a time and this was getting to be a little annoying and we started killing them.
Keep in mind we only spent one night in Big Basin and were traveling about 360 miles the next day. By the time we got to our destination that evening we had hundreds of moths coming out of the dash where they had gone down deep where they couldn't be seen to sleep for the day. It took us a couple of hours to get rid of the majority of the moths and we only have a small 23 ft motorhome! We kept finding the moths for a couple more days.
Yes....I belive there is such as thing as "moth season" in Nevada!

It truly is 'moth season' in the west. We call them 'millers' here in western Nebraska and they are the bane of our existence late May/early June of every year. Dumb things come out at night and are a total nuisance...don't bite, don't cause any damage--just annoying. Luckily their season is short and should be gone in a week or two. FYI--my kids (and my husband--the big kid) like to a.) turn on a light to attract them in the garage then suck them up with the shop vac b.) turn on a single light in a room and then put a pan of soapy water under the light. The millers take a dive bomb into the bubbles and can't get out. Well, you know, it's something to do...

Jeez, "something to do" LOL
I just read that the way to get rid of wasps is to put out a bowl of half sugar water, red so fruit punch is good mixed with beer. Bees go for the color and the sweetness, the beer makes them suffocate

To Suzie,
MY BAD! Yes, I meant Great Basin National Park in Nevada! But there is no Big Basin National Park it's Big Basin State Park in California. Now between the two of us I'm sure we have completely confused the tourist!
cnmiranda,
So, do you want to hear about our adventures with Forest Tent Caterpillars in Minnesota?

I just returned from what I thought was going to be a romantic getaway at the beautiful Bellagio Hotel. Turns out we fought the entire time, with the moths that is. In our first room we killed 14 moths and when they changed our room we killed a total of 28 moths. Needless to say it was not romantic at all. We talked to people we met there and those staying at the Paris hotel had no problems with moths.
