Motel 6 at San Simeon, CA
 

Has anyone stayed here? What did you think? We want to stay one night and then visit Hearst Castle. A lot of places are already booked. Is it necessary to get tickets to Hearst Castle in advance? Thanks.

I haven't but one of my brother's has. He says it's one of the better Motel6's.

Buy the tickets for Hearst Castle as soon as your plans are certain.

I have no idea what you pay at Motel 6 but there are some lovely, reasonably priced places in Cambria--just 15-20 min south of the castle. You would be in a real town...but maybe those are the places you are referring to that area already booked....

Yes I have stayed there. If you get an upper floor facing the Pacific there is an ocean view from the top floor!

It's a typical Motel 6. Basic, clean, free HBO. If I bring my own pillow and toiletries I can survive the thin towels for a night.

Wow. Who would think you could get an ocean view room at a Motel 6???? I hope it turns out to be decent.
