Most Interesting First Nations Monuments
We will be in Flagstaff for 3 - 4 days in March and would like to see some of the major First Nations related sites, but everything seems very far away (like 200 - 300 miles) What would be a reasonable day trip, doable and also worth the effort? We wont want to spend hours hiking to the locations after parking, either.
Thanks,
Carol

Carol,
I'm from Arizona and don't know what the First Nations sites are. I haven't heard this expression before. I'm assuming they are related to Native Americans, but could you explain?
Thanks.

If you're in Flagstaff, then a visit to Wupatki National Monument is easy. Don't have my map, but I'm guessing Wupatki is only 30 miles or so from Flagstaff. It's really quite wonderful.

For info on NPS sites, go to

http://data2.itc.nps.gov/parksearch/search.cfm

Under "Cultural Heritage," select "Native American," then select "Arizona" as your state.

Do a search and you'll find twelve sites related to Native Americans administered by the NPS in Arizona.
