morristown for conference what to do?
 

I have to attend a conference in Morristown, New Jersey in February. Is there anything interesting to do nearby? I will have very little free time to get too far away from the hotel. Can you recommend any good restaurants in the area?

What hotel? Headquarters Plaza has a movie theatre right in the center of Morristown. There's numerous good restaurants & bars right in town as well.

Morristown has many historic areas relating to the Revolutionary war times.

Restaurants: Pazzo Pazzo (we're going there Sat night...will report back but have heard good things, Dublin Pub, Famished Frog.

I used to go there for work up until a few yrs ago. Stayed at the Westin Morristown which I think was the best hotel, although it is oldish and not like most Westin's; not a place to do anything but sleep. We used to go to Madison area for dinner, there are some decent places on the main st. there, esp. Italian.

Morris Museum of Arts and Sciences has wonderful exhibits; Washington's Headquarters is filled with Revolutionary history. If you are into shopping, there's a Century 21. Check the schedule at the arts center for concerts.

We will be staying at the Westin and looking to go out after the conference in the evening,after 5. Afraid we will not be able to tour the town during the daytime.

I lived in Mo-town for a few years, so I've eaten at most of the good restaurants.

Italian - Settebello is quite good, and right in the center of town near Headquarter's Plaza. It's BYO, so make sure you stop and pick up some wine beforehand.

Indian - Moghul is an excellent restaurant, and I also think it is BYO.

American - the Famished Frog and the Office are both large bars with a decent after work scene. The food is pretty traditional bar food, good burgers, etc.

Steak - Sebastian's is my favorite restaurant in Morristown. It's a farely upscale steakhouse on Elm Street with a small bar.

I second the recommendation for Settebello. Another suggestion is La Campagna on Elm St.

Upscale choice: Grand Cafe on Washington Street.

More casual, relaxed: Callaloo Cafe on South St.

Checking back in on Pazzo-Pazzo. Food was excellent, service above average. My husband had the best Osso Bucco he's ever had and it's one of his favorites.
