More Kauai questions

1. What is the best place for horseback riding without breaking the bank? Looking for WOW factor but don't need to swim in a waterfall or eat lunch. Short and sweet is fine but want great scenery.
2. Would it be ok to have luggage in our car during a Wailua River kayak trip? This would not be with a tour group. Is the area safe by the river? If not, how long is the drive from Poipu to the Wailua River? What time is early enough to avoid the crowds on the river? Also, is it easy to figure out where to stop kayaking to hike to the waterfall?
3. Is there a kayak that is better for the price (more comfortable or less tippy)?
4. When does the Coconut Marketplace have their hula show?
5. Is a boat ride a bad idea in April?

Thanks!

1. Princeville Ranch -- views of mountains, waterfalls, and the ocean.

2. IMO, never leave valuables in a rental car -- no matter _where_ in the world you are visiting. Po`ipu to Wailua River is about one hour (depending on traffic). You can pick up a kayakers guide at any kayak rental shop.

3. We prefer the sit-upon (only because I fear getting myself stuck in a sit-in style, and having to wear a kayak to dinner!!).

4. Hmmm...I think it's Thursdays at 4pm, but I'll check the sign again when I go to town later today.

5. Depends on the ocean conditions...sometimes we have flat seas in April; sometimes not.

In response to your question about the luggage, no I wouldn't leave my luggage in the car in Hawaii or anywhere for that matter.

Hawaii is pretty safe but just like anywhere there are people who choose not to work and would rather steal it makes it not a good idea to leave things in the car.

I most hotels will hold your luggage for you or you could go to the airport and get lockers to store your bags.

Good luck with the trip. Every island has something else to offer and even though I have traveled all over the world, Hawaii is a favorite no matter how many time i visit.

greenrph,

Since 9/11 no airport in the United States has storage lockers available. They are a thing of the past.
