Does anyone have any comment on the Doubletree Inn or Hilton hotel in Monterey?

Since no one has answered. Doubletree is a nice hotel located right in the center of downtown convienient to everything. It's connected to the convertion center. There are also many small hotels, motels and B&Bs in the area that should satisfy just about anyone. I usually stay at a small hotel or motel when in town. Why spend all that money? If it's the Hilton at the beach, it's not as good a location and it's usually too cold to use the beach anyway. I prefer other areas.

Two small hotels you might want to consider are the Otter Inn, which is walking distance to Cannery Row, the Aquarium and Fisherman's Wharf or the Spindrift Inn, a small hotel on Cannery Row which is a bit more upscale. Otter Inn offers parking under the hotel which is a special bonus in this congested area.If you wanted big and at the water, I would chose Monterey Plaza Hotel, but it's more isolated and as the above poster notes, the water is cold! Instead of beach time, plan to rent a kayak and go out with the otters in the bay. Good restaurants: Fresh Cream, The Fishwife in Pacific Grove, Abalonetti's on Fisherman's Wharf, Paradiso Trattoria on Cannery Row.

My favorite place to stay in Monterey was always the Hotel Pacific or maybe it's Pacific Hotel. Its' been a while, but it was one of my favorites. It was located near the Doubletree.

Stayed at the Doubletree for a convention. I think my room was in a separte building from the lobby, etc.?Convenient location to wharf and trail, not too far to walk to attractions. The hotel itself was typical chain, nothing special, but nothing bad.

I have stayed that the Hyatt in Monterey--right next to (across the highway from) the hilton--it is right next to golf course and is right on route 1--it's pretty nice---but it's not downtown

A place I would definitely recommend, although it is not a hotel, is the Green Gables Inn at Pacific Grove. Fantastic views and all a five minutes walk along beautiful scenery to Cannery Row and the Aquarium.
