Monterey: Bistro Moulin

Relatively new (about 2 years old). Just made reservations for Valentine's Day. Anyone been there? Comments?

Someone from work told me about it -- he and his wife think its terrific (and he has very good taste in restaurants). Enjoy.

Oh good, glad to hear this! We're always looking for a new place when we go up to Monterey and have been helped enormously by fellow Fodorites. Thank you!

Have you been to Il Fornaio in Carmel? We were there last spring; so good we ate there for two dinners!

Yes, mountainsky -- not the one in Carmel, but we've been to the ones in Santa Monica and Beverly Hills. They do have good food, don't they!

Went to Bistro Moulin last night for Valentine's Day, and it is definitely a place we'll go back to. Aside from being VERY reasonably priced, the food and the service are excellent, and although packed to the gills, it still had a very bistro romantic ambiance. I had the roast chicken (which I NEVER eat in restaurants) and it was delicious. Started with a green salad. With my meal I had a side of spinach sauteed in garlic. Husband had the rack of lamb and loved it. He started off with french fries as an appetizer, that comes with a garlic dip (aioli). That, with a shared 1/2 bottle of a very decent bordeaux came out to $100 for the 2 of us.

Opened by the former chef of Casanova, in Carmel, as his sweet treat to Monterey.

Anyway, I'm bookmarking this to remind myself in my old age where I had that great meal, since we're up here every year!
