Monterey and Carmel
Leaving tomorrow on a VERY impromptu trip for the weekend in Carmel. We will be attending the Pebble Beach Pro-Am, but would love suggestions for the evenings and mornings. Will be there through Sunday. Staying in Carmel near Pebble Beach. Restaurants, quick hikes, or places to bike interest me. Also, unique experiences that are available in that area.

You can bike along the Monterey Bay Coastal Trail. Sunset at Carmel River State Beach. Walking at Asilomar State Beach. Point Lobos for hiking if you have time. Dinner at Yafa or Dametra.
|
Point Lobos for sure and visit the old Spanish mission in Carmel. And if possible visit the monarch butterfly reserve in Pacific Grove - they ought to be close to the peak around now.

Dinner at Mission Ranch if you can get in. Second vote for Carmel Mission.

Well, it's going to be super busy, but if weather permits, sunset for drinks and snacks at Inn at Spanish Bay when the Piper comes out to the edge of the cliff and entertains the crowd in the patio/bar area with his bagpipes, in full Scottish regalia.
Rent bikes in Monterey and use the bike path that will take you as far as you want to go. We've biked to Pacific Grove in one direction, and Seaside in the other. The whale watching trips from the Monterey pier are very good right now too. |
We love the bagpiper at Spanish Bay too! And Mission Ranch! I’d add Casanova for a specia dinner or maybe Little Napoli for more casual lunch or dinner.

Thanks for all of the input. We were pretty busy with the tournament and after literally hiking around the course for three days we were too tired to hike or bike by the evening, haha! That being said the courses, especially pebble have such breathtaking views who needs to leave to hike. We did get to experience the bagpiper as we were were staying at Spanish Inn. And the patio in the evening is enchanting. Luckily those we were with qualified for the final round, so we stayed Sunday as well. It was a great trip!

Glad you had a great trip! I would, however, like to alter my prior comment about the Piper. Since I learned many years ago how to play the bagpipes (my father played them), I should have said "with his/her bagpipes". I say that because last week, when I was up in Monterey and got to experience this again, the piper was female. :)
