On the way to San Francisco we would like to stay 1 night in Monterey. Again , I'm looking for some place nice,but not expensive .

Hi, check out the Best Western Beach Resort, it is directly on the ocean and has an outdoor swimming pool, jacuzzi and a restaurant on-site. Rooms are pretty standard but the property is in a beautiful location, you will have about a 5 minute drive to Monterey from here. ***kim*** ((#))

On a budget and with a car to park...Columbus Motor Inn in San Francisco and Howard Johnson Express on Munras Ave in Monterey.

Thanks a lot clarkgriswold, I booked the Columbus Motor Inn, love the location and definitely the price. There were hardly any rooms left for that period of time. Looks like there are a lot of people who like to spend money on something else then on accommodation. We never hang out at where we stay, we rather play outside.

We just got back from San Francisco. Our trip was wonderful and the accommodations that I booked because of your input, were absolutely great.
Great Western Beach Resort in Monterey amazingly located right on the water for $100 a night!
Columbus Inn , what a great location , we walked to everything from the hotel.
I still can't believe the price for a room for four was $85 a night whit free parking!
