I've never stayed at Monte Carlo, but I was very impressed with the room and the bath (which was immense) at Aladdin. I'd put the room easily above those I've had at Mirage, Bally's, Flamingo, and Treasure Island, and possibly even as nice as at Bellagio.

I often recommend the Monte Carlo and I have stayed there numerous times. It is a pleasant rather low key place and I like the location which I would rate as even with the Aladdin.
While I have not stayed at the Aladdin, I have gambled there and wandered about. I have also read many posters rave about the rooms and bathrooms.
Monte Carlo has nice rooms with acceptable bathrooms but I would not rave about them. If that is most important to you...go for the Aladdin.
I am reading into your post that this may be your first visit to Vegas? Perhaps you will spend more time in your room than I do but Vegas is a get out and stay out kind of place. While I like nice, I don't go to Vegas for the really great bathroom. Not criticizing, just commenting.

We stayed at the Aladdin this past Sept. We felt the room was great...we had a view of the Bellagio Fountains which we did NOT pay extra for. As stated the bathroom is huge!!!!
We felt the location on the strip was ideal and would recommend eating at their Spice Market Buffet.

I've stayed at both, numerous times.
The Alladin is more fun, probably, because of its themed decoration. And it's still new. The bathrooms are little mini-spas. Great fun. The only down side is that they don't have closets, only an armoir with limited space to hang clothes.
The Monte Carlo is more your typical hotel room. If sleep is important to you, their beds are wonderful.

Holli - I stayed at the Monte Carlo in July. Rooms and bathrooms are average to nice. No complaints. Pool area is nice. But, in my opinion, the hotel was a bit small and boring. I've never stayed at the Aladdin, but walked over from the Monte Carlo. I thought the location to be better than the Monte Carlo, and it had lots of nice shops inside and a PF Changs (which is a plus for me!). Hope that helps!

HI we have stayed at Alladin and I agree wholeheartedly w/Patrick's opinion. My brother and family stayed at Monte Carlo once and would only rate it slightly above a Holiday Inn type room. We don't tend to patronize any buffets--Paris being a notable exception for Sunday brunch--but we did eat at the Spice Market at Alladin one time and found the food to be very good.
