Montana Non-Ski Vacation???
 
Hi everybody. My friend and I want to plan a long weekend - just us/no family in Montana post-ski season. Does anyone recommend this. It's too complicated to get into why Montana, I'd just like to know if you think 2 40 yr. old women - 1 married, 1 singe - both from the east coast & fun & love to have a good laugh - would have a good time there. Where to go, what's to do, where to stay...any suggestions?

You don't really say where in Montana, so I can only say, that I went up there in May and went to Yellowstone and it was wonderful. You can stay in West Yellowstone which is a cute little town with lots of hotels. Montana is a beautiful place. It's easier to fly into Bozeman and drive to Yellowstone from there. Billings is a little further. You could also do Glacier National Park.

Thanks Deborah. FYI, I didn't specify where in Montana because I am not tied to anything. We've never been there, so the "Big Sky's" the limit.

Not much in Big Sky that's for sure. That's really for skiing. You just pass through there on the way to West Yellowstone!! You can also stay at a lodge right inside the park as another alternative.

Hmmmm....Montana is a huge state. The two places that come to mind are Yellowstone in the south, and Glacier in the north. <BR><BR>If you are in the Yellowsonte neighborhood, you could also go to Chico Hot Springs. It's a spa with hot springs.

You don't say when you are going. Lots of things don't open until mid-late June because of snow. The prettiest part of the state is the western side (in the mountains). <BR><BR>Glacier and Yellowstone are awesome places.<BR><BR>Another area with some of the prettiest scenery you will ever see is the Beartooth Highway which goes from the northeast entrance of Yellowstone to Red Lodge, MT.<BR><BR>Between these three places, you will see scenery and sights that you will never forget. The only place I've seen with more scenery was Alaska.
