Monday night on Broadway

Does anyone know what shows, if any, run on Monday nights?

Margo_Chester Mar 25th, 2007 03:02 PM

Beginning March 26 "Chicago" has a 8pm curtain on Mondays. Also, "Deuce" runs on Mondays until April 30th then the scheudle changes.

There may be others, you might want to go to a site like playbill.com, click on the shows you are interested in and see what days they are running.

Currently I know Chicago, Rent, Year of Magical Thinking (starting this week), Phantom of the Opera, and Spring Awakening all play on Mondays. I'm not sure of any others.

Forbidden Broadway, which is off Broadway is a good Monday night activity, as is Cast Party at Birdland.

We saw "Avenue Q" on a Monday night a couple of weeks ago. Loved the show!

The following Broadway shows have Monday night performances: Chicago, Inherit the Wind, Rent, Spring Awakening, The Phantom of the Opera, The Year of Magical Thinking.

Margo is right that Deuce will have a total of two Monday night performances -- April 16 and 23.
And Howard, we missed Avenue Q which Sara mentions.

Okay, now I'm confused. I know that we saw "Avenue Q" on Monday, March 5. After reading Howard's post I just looked at the "Avenue Q" website, and it says that performances are Tuesdays- Sundays. Do Broadway shows change their performance schedules, or am I losing my mind?

Sara Mar 25th, 2007 06:09 PM

Okay, to make it even more confusing, I perused the Avenue Q website more thoroughly, and in the FAQ section it lists the performance schedule as having Monday performances, and being dark on Wednesday. So I guess I'm not totally out of my mind after all.

You're confused? After your post I looked at Playbill.com and saw that Avenue Q does indeed have performances on Monday (they are dark on Wednesday). Then after your last post I went to the official Avenue Q site which says Tues through Friday.
But I went to Telecharge and you can indeed buy tickets for Monday nights currently but not Wednesday. So I'd go by that. Surely they aren't selling tickets for performances when there aren't performances. I have no idea why the official show's website is wrong!

I just checked this morning's NY Times, and yes, Avenue Q is indeed performing tonight! Sorry for leaving it off my initial posting.

Simply enter your specific Monday night at the "Find shows for your selected dates" box at Broadwaybox.com and you'll have all the info you need.

NeoPatrick Mar 27th, 2007 05:30 AM

Isn't it amazing what you learn here. I've been using BroadwayBox for years as well as other sites, and I've never discovered that "enter the night" option there. Thanks, SomeDude. That feature would also be great for those illusive Sunday night shows.

NeoPatrick Mar 27th, 2007 05:34 AM

OK, I spoke too soon. I just went to Broadway Box and I cannot find a way to enter "search by dates". It's also interesting that I did find under "search by special category" a list of Monday night performances -- but oddly they only list two while we have found 7.
Now where is that specific date thing?

mclaurie Mar 27th, 2007 10:20 AM

What it says is "Find discounts for your selected dates:" and the minimum time is a week. So you can't really find a show(s) for just one date. But it did make me look at the site more carefully than I have before.;)
