Mon Ami Gabi Las Vegas

My husband and I will be visiting Las Vegas the end of May. Wanting to try something new, we've decided on Mon Ami Gabi after reading many positive reviews. After reading the menu, the steaks sound delicious but I'm not so sure about the frites. The one description I found described them as curly crisp fries. Is this accurate? I don't like kettle cooked chips but do like regular french fries. Will I like frites? Thank you for any advice you can give.

Have you ever had "french" style fries Arb? Steak frites is a pretty traditional dish, the fries are julienned (sp?) and nothing like kettle chips. Why don't you try them while your there and then you can say for yourself if you like them or not?

I have eaten both lunch and dinner at MAG and both times thought the service and food were great!

The frites are simply thin fries. They are delicious. They are not potato chips. Go and enjoy.

Havent' been to MAG - but have been to many french bistro type restos serving steak frites and it's worth a trip but do not have overly high expectations, it's basically steak and potatoes. the nice thing to do would be to get a huge collander of steamed mussles as well and if you are ordering steak and the place seems genuinely french, go for the au poivre version and ask for extra sauce for the fries (the waiter might cringe, but the steak sauce makes for excellent dipping for your fries!) and also you should not have dinner without ordering a nice bottle of red wine, like a cabernet. Anyway, enjoy. Oh, as Paris is HUGE with families, my suggestion would be to get the LATEST reservation possible to avoid the screaming kid set.

I was just in Vegas and ate at Mon Am Gabi last Monday. I have to say I was a bit disappointed after all the good things I had read.
I had their blue cheese steak, and it was only about 1/8 inch think ( no kidding....)and the steak frites were overcooked. Actually more like julienne potato chips, rather than a typical french fry. Not soft at all. I was not impressed. I also thought the house salad was pretty ummemorable. I would not hurry to return there. I frankly had a far better meal at the Cheesecake Factory at Ceasars.

I would suggest this restaurant for lunch not dinner. It has a bit of a bistro feel & you can eat outside as well.

I also second this as a fun lunch spot. Sit outside and watch the Vegas world go by.
KathyH

Ate there this past weekend with friends. Agree on the lunch and sitting outside. Get a couple bottles of wine and enjoy the outdoors. Not only is the world going by, but you can catch several fountain performances across the street at Belagio. Frites are excellent and yes, they will give you ketchup on request. Can highly recommend the chicken brie sandwich. Save room for dessert. We did not but the eclairs looked incredible.

We arrived in Vegas yesterday and decided to eat again at Mon Ami Gabi. This time we had the roast chicken with the fries. I don't care for the fries because they're so thin they do taste a bit like potato chips. I'd rather the traditional fries. But the chicken was moist and the skin was crispy. We also had the pistou (pesto) minestrone soup which was allright but I didn't care for the pesto flavor in the soup. But all in all it was very good. If you really don't think too much about it you'd think you're in Paris.
