Mom wants to see Fall Foliage
My mom (74 years old)has told me that she
would like to see the fall foliage in the Smoky Mountains. How do I know exactly when to go? Stay in Gatlinburg or Pigeon Forge? She can't hike but we can take short walks. She loves country music, but not Elvis. Thanks for any input!
Try Abode and Beyond Bed & Breakfast in Townsend, TN. Awesome views. Townsend is about 20 miles from both Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge. www.tnabode.com

Peak season in the Smokies generally occurs around mid October. Make your reservations now! I agree that Townsend is a great little town. Off the beaten path but only about a 20 minute drive to Pigeon Forge. There are several motels and B&Bs.

This question is nearly a year old.
Hopefully mom had a good time.

Wow, I can't believe this message was still here. We did go, we ended up in Gatlinburg at this resort way up on a mountain (not a great resort, but nice views, now I've forgotten the name!). Loved Gatlinburg, very quaint. I'm glad we stayed there and not in Pigeon Forge. We just caught the end of the foliage at the end of October. It snowed on us on the way across the Smokies to the Casino.

:)
